The Baylis family have been servicing the Ellesmere district since 1917 when Peter's grandfather purchased the Blacksmiths at Irwell. There when motor cycles and cars became prominent he began selling petrol in 4 gallon drums. The first service station in Ellesmere was started with two hand operated pumps.
In 1935 he was offered a service station in Leeston which is part of the current site which Harold (Peter's father) started to manage.
Harold with his brothers continued the service station and started to distribute fuel to the farmers with their own tanker until 1987. They also started a cartage business. We still continue to supply Diesel and Petrol to local farmers.
The building was updated in 1963 and the current forecourt was built in 1975.
After Peter joined the business the hours were extended to a 7 day service, the shop was enlarged to the current size and the LPG bottle fill added.
Our staff of local personnel of Jenny, Brian, Ngaire have been with us for many years and Helen and Lorraine who have both joined our staff last year endeavour to give personal forecourt service when possible. Our friendly staff enjoy communicating on the local sports teams and have a good local knowledge of the Ellesmere District.
We are a community minded business in a small rural town and we have endeavoured to support all local schools, organisations and clubs over the years.
We use a Hunter 4 wheel laser wheel aligner.
