About us
Our business has been in the family for 40 years and we will continue as a small family business in the future. We are situated in the heart of Clyde’s historic precinct in picturesque Central Otago, home of the Rail Trail, superb fine dining and so much more.
Clyde is nestled in a sheltered basin at the foot of an immense and crooked gorge, now flooded by the huge concrete hydro dam just upstream. The old gorge was a severe test of mettle for early goldfields – traffic and horse teams often paused in Clyde to prepare for the rigors ahead.
The town is surrounded by an area renowned first for gold then for its stone fruit orchards, particularly in the Earnscleugh district. Many historic buildings have survived and the town centre has been declared an historic precinct. Some buildings have been refurbished as cafes, bars and places to stay.
Clyde is a small community and we are the only service station in town, which means we have a good community spirit and cherish our locals. To us it is all about helping our community. Most of our customers are regular and we know them on a social basis as well as in business and definitely by their names.
Our staff are our jewels, providing friendly, efficient and caring service both in the shop and on the forecourt. Our motto is “we are here to please” and we do that 7 days a week.
